Horizon Smart Factory returns this November!

Horizon Smart Factory (HSF) 2026 is less than two months away! HSF will take place November 4-6, 2026, at Horizon’s headquarters in Japan, and offers a unique opportunity for partners and our mutual customers to immerse themselves in the factory of the future. Horizon will demonstrate solutions that minimize human intervention through AMRs and robotics, and create workflows designed for real-world operation in printing and bookbinding environments.

We are excited to share that Steve Martinez has been promoted to Director of Sales for Standard. Steve brings more than 40 years of print industry experience to his new role, which will focus on leading Standard’s sales strategy, managing the national sales team, and continuing to strengthen Standard’s position in the print finishing market.

HP-Standard Customers Featured in WhatTheyThink

Cimpress and RRD companies are at the forefront of digital transformation, investing in HP presses such as the HP Indigo 120K and HP PageWide Advantage 2200, respectively. To support their digital printing, both companies use automated finishing equipment from Standard. Cimpress leverages two Horizon StitchLiner Mark IV Saddlestitchers, while RRD has implemented a StitchLiner Mark V Saddlestitcher.

Finishing 360 Draws Visitors From Across the U.S. and Canada

In May, Standard hosted its annual Finishing 360 open house, bringing together industry professionals for hands-on discussions around finishing, automation, and workflow innovation. For the first time ever, we welcomed new pre- and post-partners, EMT and Tecnau, and showcased integrated solutions with unwinders and cutters from both companies. We also demonstrated the new, fully automated Palamides Gamma stacker and bander, which Standard is reselling.

The Inkjet Summit and BMI Spring Management Conference

Standard’s Johan Laurent, Steve Martinez, Frits Knepper, and Katelyn Pinch recently joined our mutual customers and partners at the Inkjet Summit in San Antonio, Texas. At the event, Standard presented customer case studies to groups of commercial print and in-plant customers. Additionally, Johan, Steve, and Katelyn joined our colleagues at the BMI Spring Management Conference in Portland, Oregon, where they discussed some of the biggest topics shaping our industry, including AI and robotics. Katelyn was also recognized by BMI, receiving their Rising Star award, alongside Zach Larson from Bethany Press.

Horizon Smart Factory returns this Fall

We are pleased to announce the return of Horizon Smart Factory (HSF) this November at Horizon Innovation Park in Takashima, Japan (north of Kyoto). HSF brings automation and robotics to the forefront of the production environment, showcasing Lights Out automation from printing through shipping and logistics. Standard will host a group of US and CA customers in Kyoto, Japan, from November 2-6, and we hope to welcome our North American partners to the Horizon facility as well. More information will be shared in the coming months, so stay tuned for additional details.

Standard joins HP at Dscoop Edge Rockies

Standard was a proud sponsor of Dscoop Edge Rockies that took place March 8-11, 2026, in Denver, Colorado. The event focused on industry transformation with discussions around automation, AI, and next-generation talent. Johan Laurent, Frits Knepper, and Katelyn Pinch were in attendance from Standard to connect with the HP team and our mutual customers.

Standard and HP Partner to Produce Custom Application at Dscoop

At Dscoop Edge Rockies, Standard partnered with HP to finish a custom greeting card application from the brand ArdorU. Each card from ArdorU pairs original artwork by independent artists with highly personalized messages to create a meaningful printed piece for the recipient. Dscoop attendees were invited to place an order for a custom card, which was then printed by HP Indigo. Cards were delivered to the Standard booth for folding on the Horizon CRF-362 Creaser/Folder and returned to each customer as a beautifully finished piece.
